Day 1.based on your time of arrival to Addis Ababa, we will start from the hotel and drive through Addis Ababa stopping at various sites such as the largest open market in Africa (Merkato),the Red Terror Museum around ‘Meskel’ Square and Addis Ababa Museum. We will then visit the national museum where Australopithecus Afarensis (Lucy) is found. Afterwards, we will continue by driving to, Entoto mountain, where Emperor Menelik first settled and where Empress Taitu built her palace. Entoto also boasts an Orthodox church built over 200 years ago, it also gives a panoramic top view of the city of Addis Ababa and its outskirt’s
Day 2.Early in the morning after breakfast we will drive to Hawassa, which is 260 km away from Addis Ababa. On our way we will visit Melka kuntere and Tiya erect stones both UNESCO heritage site’s. We will then visit Abjata and the deepest rift valley Lake, Lake Shala. We will finalize the day by staying overnight at Hawassa Haile Resort.
Day 3. Early in the morning after breakfast we start our journey by first making a stop at the Fish market at Lake Hawassa, then drive to Arbaminch via Shashemene and Wolayta. On the way we will visit Senkele National Park, Halaba village and people of Hadya. We will also come across the Welayta people and their traditional houses. Overnight we will stay at paradise lodge.
Day 4. Early in the morning After breakfast, we will drive to Dorze Vilage which is about 25km away from paradise lodge, to visit the Dorze traditional homes and experience local home made spirit (Areki). There we can also see how they cook false banana(inset).
After lunch in the afternoon we will drive to lake chamo to see the local crocodile market , and view hippopotamus that inhabit the lake, we will also get a chance to see different species of birds. We will finally return to paradise lodge to stay the night.
Day 5. Early in the morning After breakfast we will drive to Jinka via Konso to see the people of the Derashe tribe, the Konso Terrace a UNESCO heritage site. We will then visit the museum of king (Kala) of Konso and cemetery of the Konso tribe. We will continue with a trip to the cultural museum of the Konso people as well. After lunch in the afternoon, we will visit the local hot market “keyafer” where many tribes and people of various culture cross paths. We will stay the night at Jinka Resort.
Day 6. Early in the morning After breakfast, we will drive to Mursi Crossing Mago National park where we will get the chance to spot buffalo’s, elephant’s and some species of birds. After lunch (Picnic) we will drive to visit the Ari village and museum. We will then return to Jinka Resort for the night.
Day 7. Early in the morning After breakfast, we will Drive to a village where Turmi Tribe reside. On our way we will stop by ‘Dimeka’ a local market. In the afternoon after lunch, we will visit the Turmi tribe and the most amazing Bull jumping (wedding culture of the people of Hammer). We will stay the night at Buska lodge.
Day 8. Early in the morning, after breakfast we will drive to the village and Omo river to see Yangatom and Bume tribes. We will drive back to Turmi and stay the night at Buska lodge.
Day 9. Early in the morning after breakfast, we will drive to Omorate crossing the Omo river by local Boat to see the Dasenech tribe along the border’s shared with Kenya. In the afternoon after launch, we will drive via Konso to Yabello. We will stay the night at Yabello motel.
Day 10. Early in the morning after breakfast, we will drive to the singing wall and visit “Chew bet” ( Salt station) and then drive back to yabello for the night.
Day 11. Early in the morning after breakfast, we will drive to Yirgalem town to see huge coffee plantation and the Borena people and the famous Gada System (administration) system of the Oromo people. We will stay overnight at Aregash lodge.
Day 12. Early in the morning After breakfast, we will drive back to Addis Ababa for about 300 KM. On the way, we will stop at Ziway for lunch and then a straight drive to Addis Ababa. In the Afternoon we will have traditional dinner At Yod Abysinia or 2000 Habesha.
